Getting Ready for Camp!

The summer of 2011 has officially arrived! The fun in the sun has already begun, as our pre-weekers have been having a blast -- especially with renown glass blower Jason Klein WOW-ing the kids with his extraordinary talents!  

The Liberty Lake Team could not be more excited for the beginning of our very special 10th anniversary summer. Among many other improvements to our program and facility, campers can look forward to exciting new Special Events, our Liberty Lake Garden, additional High Ropes Elements, Turtle Town and an enhanced Teen Leadership Program!  

We’ve put together the following packing list to make sure that your child has everything they need:

• Camper Name Tag (for camper's first day of the summer) 
• Camp Bag
• Sunscreen
• Towel
• Bathing Suit
• An extra set of clothing
• Windbreaker
• A smile : )

Things to leave at home:

• Flip-flops
• Any electronic device, including cell phones!

Also, please remember to LABEL all of your camper’s items with their name! Trying to find anything in our Lost & Found Mountain is hard enough, looking for a name-less item makes it even more of an adventure! 

Here are some other pre-summer preparation points:

• Week 1 Bus Routes are available online! Click here to see them.
• Please have your child fill out their Top 10 Elective Preferences ASAP! We are finalizing Week 1 Schedules now.
• Make sure you’ve returned the “Permission to Administer Medication” form
• Sign up for Text-Caster -- our Emergency Notification System.
• Update your family’s information and health history in CampMinder
• Familiarize yourself with CampMinder -- your CampMinder Dashboard is your portal for viewing our daily photo albums. CampMinder is now also accessible via Facebook, check out our blog entry from May 9th, "Facebook Integrates CampMinder for You" to learn more!

New Jersey Renaissance Faire- Next Two Weekends @ Liberty Lake!

The 2011 Camp Season is right around the corner, and we're also hosting the New Jersey Renaissance Faire! Get ready as King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable assemble at at Liberty Lake (known at the Faire as the "Shire of Crossford") June 4-5 and 11-12 (plus a "school day" on June 10), from 11am to 6pm each day. This amazing festival features a wide variety of entertainment, food, and activities like jousting, sword fighting, glass blowing, falconry and boat rides -- as well as over 50 eclectic vendors selling a variety of crafts, trinkets, weaponry, period clothing and more! 

Admission is $20 for adults; $12 for children, 6-12; free for children 5 and under. Discount tickets available online through the website. We are also offering a $2 per ticket discount to ALL CURRENTLY ENROLLED LIBERTY LAKE FAMILIES AND CURRENTLY HIRED STAFF!

Community Health Day at Liberty Lake

Community Health Day, taking place on May 21st from 11 am to 4 pm at Liberty Lake is going to be amazing and action-packed! Check out the list of activities and events for the day:

CampMinder + Facebook = CampInTouch! Thanks to CampMinder, our wonderful online camp management system, it is now possible to sign into your CampMinder account directly through Facebook! At Liberty Lake, we are all about maximizing connectivity as much as we can, and now it is even easier! You can get easy access to this new, nifty feature by clicking on the CampInTouch link on our Fan Page, it’s the 4th link in the left column, beneath the Camp Logo.

Stay more InTouch, with CampInTouch! All Camp Families should update their information, submit their children's Health History, and enter your Camper’s top 10 elective preferences (coming shortly) before June 1st!

Camp Games For A Cause!

We'd love for current and former Liberty Lakers and friends ages 17 or older to join our team for "Camp Games for a Cause!" Camp Games for a Cause will bring together hundreds of camp alumni and friends on May 21st, 2011 at Columbia University in New York City. The event is being hosted by the American Camp Association, New York and New Jersey. ACA NY/NJ is a private, not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of summer camp experiences for children and is one of the largest networks of camp professionals in the country.

Camp Games for a Cause participants will compete in a day full of traditional 'camp color war' events that range from wacky relays, basketball shoot-outs and tug-o-war to team cheer,dance offs and so much more! Proceeds from Camp Games for a Cause will provide low income children with positive summer camp experiences through scholarships, trainings and program support.

Here's the schedule for the day:
Registration: 10:00 am - 10:30 am
Opening Ceremonies: 11:00 am - 11:25 am
GAMES: 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Lunch/Pep Rally: 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Mega Relay/Closing Ceremonies: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

**Team Captain Chris Jorge will be coordinating transportation into the city for all participants**

(2) Under the visitors section click "Participant Registration"
(3) Agree to the Waiver/Agreement
(4) Click "Join a Team"
(5) Select "Liberty Lake Day Camp"
(6) Complete the registration form
